How to make a photo collage

Grid or masonry?
Grid is the classic look: every cell is a square of the same size, and each photo is scaled and center-cropped to fill it. It suits sets of similar photos and looks neat on social media. Because of the crop, very wide or very tall photos lose their edges.
Masonry keeps each photo complete. Photos are scaled to the column width and placed in whichever column is currently shortest, which creates a staggered, magazine-style layout. The total height varies with your photos.

Sizing for where it will be used
The output width sets the final size. 1080 to 1200 px suits social media, 2000 to 2500 px suits websites and high-density screens, and 3000 to 4000 px gives enough detail for small prints. The height is calculated from the layout.
The collage is saved as a high quality JPEG (95 percent), which keeps photos sharp while keeping the file a manageable size.
